MEDAP S AIR

Modern and durable tapping unit

The different versions of the MEDAP S AIR tapping unit enable powerful surgical and bronchial aspiration via a terminal unit for compressed air of the central gas supply system. These modern tapping units are characterised by their high-quality, anodised aluminium construction for a long service life combined with a lightweight design, and they provide optimum hygienic conditions thanks to their large, rounded surfaces. A user-friendly control valve makes it easy to set the vacuum to the precise level required. A clearly visible ON/OFF rotating switch indicates the unit’s operating status.

Applications

  • Hospital / clinic
  • Outpatient surgery center

High flow rate

The flow rate of 36 l/min, which is high for tapping units for compressed air, noticeably reduces strain on the patient — in the operating room, the intensive care unit, or specialist practice.

ON/OFF switch as a rotating switch

The ON/OFF switch is easy to adjust. The respective position is clearly visible from the front.

MR-compatible

Thanks to their special technology, the modern MEDAP S AIR B 800 tapping units fulfil the requirements for use in MR environments. They are MR-conditional up to 4.7 teslas.

FAQ

What is the transparent disc covering two holes on the back of the MEDAP S AIR?

That is the safety valve at the patient side in accordance with the European standard, and it prevents compressed air from flowing toward the patient if the outlet for compressed air becomes blocked.

Where does the compressed air flow out of the MEDAP S AIR?

The compressed air flows downward below the thickened part of the housing. Thanks to this outlet that points downward, the MEDAP S AIR is extremely narrow with a width of 52 mm so that it can even be used when space is limited, for example in an intensive care unit.

Where is the marking on the MEDAP S AIR stating that it is a tapping unit for compressed air?

The mark indicating that the tapping unit creates vacuum is located in the vacuum gauge ('Vacuum'). On the back of the tapping unit, the mark 'AIR SUPPLY' clearly shows that the tapping unit must be inserted into a terminal unit for compressed air.

Why is the DIN gas pin on the MEDAP S AIR so long?

In some intensive care units, the terminal units are in wall channels. An equipment rail often runs just beneath the terminal units. If an overflow protection device is used below the MEDAP S AIR, it could collide with the equipment rail of the wall channel. Therefore, the length of the DIN gas pin was designed in such a way that the MEDAP S AIR cannot come into conflict with the equipment rail even if an overflow protection device is used.

Why can’t the vacuum connection tube to the septic fluid jar be connected directly to the MEDAP S AIR?

In accordance with the international standard ISO 10079 for medical suction equipment, the use of a hydrophobic overflow protection device and a bacterial filter is mandatory. The MEDAP S AIR has the same connection as the MEDAP S VAC. That means the same adapter, and therefore the same hydrophobic bacterial and viral filter, can be connected to the MEDAP S AIR as to the MEDAP S VAC.
