The pressure-compensated MEDAP S FLOW flowmeters are made of high-gloss, chrome-plated brass and are extremely lightweight. They meet all the requirements in the fields of inhalation, insufflation, and aerosol therapy. These flowmeters have a very large setting range and are easy to read even from far away. Thanks to their special technology, they also fulfil the requirements for use in MR environments. They are MR-conditional up to 4.7 teslas.

FAQ
Unlike solids or liquids, the volume of gases can be compressed. As an example, consider a 10-litre oxygen cylinder with a pressure of 200 bar. This cylinder contains 10 x 200 = 2000 l of oxygen. With flowmeters, the downstream products that build up different back pressures pose a problem. This is how a humidifier differs significantly from a simple tube with a nasal cannula. A pressure-compensated flowmeter delivers the set flow rate regardless of downstream products. However, a constant supply pressure is important. MEDAP S FLOW flowmeters for distribution in Germany are calibrated to a pressure of 5 bar. That is the pressure commonly used in German central gas supply systems.
Tube flowmeters are infinitely adjustable, whereas click-stop flowmeters can only be set to a certain number of fixed levels. In addition, the floating ball shows the exact flow rate toward the patient at all times, thereby providing a simple means of monitoring.
In some intensive care units, the terminal units are in wall channels. An equipment rail often runs just beneath the terminal units. If a humidifier is used below the MEDAP S FLOW, it could collide with the equipment rail of the wall channel. Therefore, the length of the DIN gas pin was designed in such a way that the MEDAP S FLOW cannot come into conflict with the equipment rail even if a humidifier is used.
